J&P Cycles gift card give-away – enter here!

A few years ago, I created a list of must-have accessories – my favorites at the time were a windshield, loud pipes, hand grips, saddle bags, and bling. That post just might be due for an update soon… I’ve since learned that a luggage rack, rider backrest, and highway pegs are pretty important items too, at least for me. Fortunately, one of my favorite retailers offers all of this and more. And, even better: they’ve once again invited me to give away a gift card!

J&P Cycles wants to give a $25 gift card to a lucky winner from Biker Chick News! If you’d like to be in the drawing to win, just leave a comment on this post with your answer to the question: “What’s the best accessory you’ve added to your bike?” If you haven’t added any, you’re not doing it right! just leave a comment so I know you’d like to win!

The winner will be chosen via random.org on June 9, so leave your comment (one per person) before end-of-day June 8. And, be sure to include your email address when you fill out the comment form so I can contact you if you win! I promise not to share the email addresses.

J&P is a leading retailer of after-market motorcycle parts for Harley, Yamaha, Honda, and other makes/models. They have specialty lines for vintage and racing bikes, too. AND – every year they host a fantastic Open House weekend at their Anamosa, Iowa location. So come on up, down, or over June 25 and 26 to the 2011 event!

And, don’t forget to leave your comment on this post to be eligible to win the gift card!

Disclaimer: As with the previous J&P Give-away, I was not compensated to promote their company or their website. In exchange for the links I’ve given them above, they are giving a gift card to a BCN reader.

I haven’t added any for the simple fact my husband says the less is best?

Having a hard time choosing one favorite…I tour alot so it is a toss up between the Givi trunk and my Garmin Zumo GPS. I use the trunk daily for work and errands (I take the hard saddle bags off when I an runnung in town)and it makes trips so much easier to pack. Zumo makes finding places so much easier, I take a lot less unplanned detours ;), confirms I am where I think I am, less stopps to mess with maps (always have em just in case tho), etc. Have a few more handy farkles and a list of several more I hope to get before next trip. Thanks for the chance to win the gift card.

I like my little videocam, and my windshield pouch is a handy item, but the best thing by far is the luggage rack. I don’t have a hard tour box–don’t really care for the looks of most of them (except for the $900 one, which I can’t afford!), but the luggage rack allows me to strap on a bike-specific backpack for touring. The backpack itself is a little work of art, by T-bags, since it has a rubber bottom and integral rain cover, and when I take it off the bike, I can carry it like a backpack.

I’d LOVE to have a GPS–maybe next birthday!

Hmmm, the one accessory I wouldn’t do without is my Barefoot Willie’s cup holder. So easy to stay hydrated…and carry coffee home. LOL!

    5. Jennifer says:

The best accessory I have added has to be my comfy Kuryakyn Iso grips with wrists rests. They really do help with longer rides!

    6. Annette Breier says:

I would love a 3/4 cover and J&P has one in their catalog….I can even give you a part number!

    7. Susan mast says:

The best addition for me, as a passenger was passenger running boards. No more worrying about my feet slipping off the pegs. My legs are much more comfortable and relaxed now. What would I like? A drink holder.

    8. Jane Cross says:

It is a tough choice but if I had to pick just one, I love my windshield bag the best. I can put items in there that I can get at much easier than in my saddle bags, e.g. my check card when filling up at the gas pump, my cellphone, my lip balm/lipstick, sunscreen, tissues, the list goes on & on…it is amazing how much necessary/important “stuff” I can fit in this bag and I wouldn’t give it up for anything. I have lots of great accessories that came with the bike and I have thoroughly enjoyed adding bling & chrome as each year passes yet it is still not too “out there”. Even my husband agrees it is a SHARP bike! ;-)

    9. Beverly Larson says:

Definitely my windshield bag. I ride a Fatboy, but the bag for the
Road King just squeezed in nicely. I love not having to dig through saddle bags for glasses, gloves, my purse, etc. I was amazed at how much it holds.

    10. Gina Welch says:

I have a project bike that I’m restoring, so I need LOTS!!!!

    11. Teresa Klein says:

A new seat with a back rest would be nice.

    12. Sue Yelle says:

The best accessory I have added to my ’09 Nightster is new rear Progressive shocks.
It changed the ride dramatically, adding better handling and comfort. No longer do I have to ride with my eyes glued to the ground, looking for dips and blips that could give me a nasty jolt!

    13. Jacqueline says:

Yes..I would love to have a gift card…am in the need of new Mud Flaps and leather hand grips (fringe of course) that have been on the bike for 13 yrs. Thats just for the Sporty.. And I can’t ride the 98 Ultra Classic until I get a low profile seat. So please put my name in the drawing.. thanks Janet..Always look forward to getting emails from Biker Chick News..

      Thanks
      Jacqueline

    14. Gloria says:

Love my mustang seat! Hands down best addition to the bike, other than the windshield and my heated gear. I am looking to get a windshield pouch, so yes please add me to the equation for a gift certificate. Keep up the great work Biker Chick, love reading your posts!

    15. flacowgirl says:

I bought a large Xelement sissybar bag that I just LOVE. I wanted something big enough so I could just throw my computer backpack and other work stuff into without having to squeeze things in. I needed something fast……grab helment, throw stuff into sissybar bar and just go! I still have room to pickup a few things on my way home and the bag permently holds my bike cover, gloves, neck wrap, sunglasses and rain cover in the outer pockets with room to spare. I also have it mounted on the back of my sissybar sitting on a small luggage rack so that I can carry a passenger without having to move anything. Put me in for the drawing please! Love this site! Thanks for your cool info!

    16. Julia Morton says:

The best thing I have added to my bike is a lowering kit form my 23 in inseam! Saddlebags, handlebar clock, and windshield. Next thing I would like is a half cover to protect my baby from the sun, while parked in parking lot at work. Please put me in the drawing for J&P gift card. I love being a biker Chick!

    17. Toby says:

Hands down (no pun intended) it would have to be my turn signal button extenders! It was the cheapest and the best accessory so far. I have tiny hands and now I never have to take my eyes off the road, or move my hands to find my turn signals!

    18. dispatcher Janet says:

The only thing I have added to my bike so far is the quick detach windshield & I won’t ride without it now … minimizes catching june bugs in the forehead! Three things I would like to buy for my bike is heated handgrips, windshield bag, and a half cover … not necessarily in that order. :)

    19. Thumper says:

I have a new bike, so I haven’t added anything to it yet…so I really need to! I can think of about $3000 worth of things I eventually want to get around to… Shocks, springs, bags, quick release windshield…maybe a tach, braided lines, clock…

    20. Mary says:

The last piece of chrome I added to my bike is always my favorite, the best, etc. You can never have too much bling!

    21. Deanna says:

My raido! love it! and i can hook up my shuffle to it allso! And I took the back seat off and added a tour pack sence I dont rid any one! love all the room it gives me couse you know us chicks need room for all our stuff!!

    22. Lynn says:

      Backrest would be awesome!

    23. Kimberly Roberts says:

My favorite and first accessory was tasseled lever grips. Every girls bike should have streamers blowing in the wind. On my current bike I even did the braiding myself.

    24. Sandee says:

My luggage. The saddlebags are great but for overnights, my double bag luggage are perfect. I can even fit a half helmet in the bigger bag.

    25. Robin says:

just looking into getting a bike this month

    26. Sheri Leeds says:

I have a leather heat guard that is very easy to slip beneath my seat that shields my thighs from the heat of the engine. Found it at a HOG rally and love it.

    27. Deborah Falkowski says:

I’ve put on a lot of accessories but the one that has been my best choice has been my highway bars. A couple of times it has kept my leg being caught under the bike. Also, it has prevented damage to my pipes and other parts of the bike. Absolutly, without question, everyone should have highway bars.
